Description
The SmartElex VL53L4CD High Accuracy Distance Sensor Breakout is a compact and precise distance sensor built on STMicroelectronics’ advanced VL53L4CD Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology. It uses a 940nm VCSEL infrared laser to measure the time it takes for light to reflect off a target, providing accurate distance readings from 1mm to 1300mm with millimeter-level resolution.
Featuring I2C communication, this sensor is easy to interface with microcontrollers and development boards—no soldering required. 5V, the SmartElex VL53L4CD offers a fast read rate of up to 100Hz and an 18° field of view, making it perfect for applications in robotics, automation systems, and smart IoT devices where reliable short-range distance measurement is essential. Low power consumption. The typical current usage is 22mA (24mA maximum), with a peak of 40mA incorporating the VCSEL. Expanded measurement range Distances are accurately measured from 1mm to 1300mm. High Precision: Provides a resolution of ±1mm for accurate distance detection. Reliable Light Source For consistent performance, use a Class 1 940nm VCSEL.
Optimized Field of View The 18° field of view ensures concentrated distance measurement. Fast Read Rate Supports a maximum measurement rate of 100 Hz. I2C Communication uses a 7-bit unshifted I2C address (0x29) for easy integration. Wide temperature range. Functions dependably between -30°C and +85°C, making it suited for a variety of settings.
