SmartElex ADXL345 Triple-Axis Accelerometer Breakout The SmartElex Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout is based on the ADXL345, a low-power 3-axis digital accelerometer designed to measure acceleration and motion along the X, Y and Z axes. It supports selectable measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g and ±16g and provides digital data through I2C or SPI interfaces.

The ADXL345 also includes useful motion-detection functions such as single- and double-tap detection, activity/inactivity monitoring and free-fall detection.

Its compact breakout format makes it suitable for robotics, motion tracking, tilt sensing, navigation and embedded electronics projects Features 3-Axis Acceleration Sensing: Measures acceleration along the X, Y and Z axes for motion, tilt and vibration detection. Selectable Measurement Range: Supports ±2g, ±4g, ±8g and ±16g acceleration ranges for different sensing requirements.

High-Resolution Output: Provides up to 13-bit resolution in full-resolution mode while maintaining approximately 4mg/LSB sensitivity. I2C & SPI Interfaces: Supports both I2C and SPI digital communication for flexible connection to microcontrollers and development boards. Tap Detection: Supports single-tap and double-tap detection for interactive and motion-based applications.

Activity & Inactivity Detection: Detects movement or inactivity based on programmable acceleration thresholds. Free-Fall Detection: Provides dedicated free-fall detection for applications requiring sudden-motion or drop detection. 32-Level FIFO: Includes an integrated 32-level FIFO buffer to store motion data and reduce processor workload.
